Gladys M. Reisinger, 96, of Waterloo, died at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village on Thursday, February 19, 2015.
She was born on February 11, 1919 in Lincoln, Iowa, daughter of Johannas and Erna (Haverberg) Engel.
Gladys graduated from Dinsdale Consolidated School in 1936.
She married Marvin Roy Reisinger on August 3, 1940 at First Congregational Church in Waterloo. He died January 23, 2002.
She was a seamstress at Hinson Mfg. from 1939‑1943, and then became a homemaker.
Gladys was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as deacon twice, and she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Women's Association.
Gladys enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting. She made over 117 afghans for family members, friends, church members, and needy families. She also knit mittens for the needy. Gladys had the natural gift of being able to strike up a conversation with almost anyone. She loved to write and receive letters and kept up on what was going on in others’ lives.
Gladys is survived by three sons: Larry (Connie) Reisinger of Fort Mohave, Arizona, and Robert "Bob" (Jackie) Reisinger of Waterloo; James (Kim) Reisinger of Mason City; eight grandchildren: Scott, John, Kelly, Chris, Chuck, Carrie, Larry Ray, and Chad; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Raynard (Donna) Engel of Waterloo; sister Doris (Richard) Saul of Alamo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, an infant daughter Marsha, a sister Allene Leistikow, and a brother Ronald Engel.
