Jack R. Klein, Sr., 78, of Waterloo, died at his home, on Monday, March 9, 2015.
Jack was born on May 29, 1936 in Waterloo, the son of Kenneth and Virginia Lightfoot Klein.
He graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1954. He then served as Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War.
Jack married Patricia A. Edge on October 19, 1957 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
He worked as a wholesale driver for Andersen Erickson Dairy and was a machinist at John Deere until he and his son owned and operated Jay Jay's Cycle in Waterloo. He retired in 2002.
For 35 years, he played bass guitar and sang vocals for the bands Baby Moon & The White Walls and Southbound. Jack was a lifetime member of the American Motorcyclist Association and the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, selling at craft shows and racing motorcycles.
Survived by: his wife, Patricia Klein of Waterloo; daughters, Kimberly (Dennis) Bumgardner of Waverly and Krysta (Rick) Sewell of Waterloo; son, Jack (JoLynn) Klein, Jr. of Waterloo; two sisters, Connie (John) Troupe of Evansdale and Karla Wolf of St. Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren, Nicole (Ben) Kleckner, Chet Bumgardner, Dustin (Leanne) Klein, Justin Klein, Tori (Mike) Batton, Kaylee (Chris) Harting, Jessie (Josh) Smith, Jamie Sewell, Kenda (Ryan) Medd, and Kim (Matt) Sewell; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: great grandson Quaid Kleckner.
