Biography--

Dallas Dixon, 72, of Waterloo, died peacefully with his family at his side, Friday, March 13, 2015.

He was born on December 18, 1942 in Grundy Center, Iowa, son of Arnold and Dorthea (Hansen) Dixon.

Dallas graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1961. He became licensed in state of Iowa for land surveying 1985.

He married Rita Palmitessa March 26, 1966 in Grundy Center.

Dallas worked as a land surveyor for Wayne Claassen Engineering and Survey Co., retired in 1999.

He was a member of Land Surveyors of Iowa. He served in the US Navy on the USS Bang Submarine in the Atlantic.

Dallas is survived by: his wife; daughters, Trisia (Jesse) McElmury and Dawn (Jonny) Silk, both of Farmington, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Jordan Bradfield, Sydney (Brandon) Cole, and Sammantha Silk; a brother, Don (Jan) Dixon of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by: his parents.

Dallas was an artistic person: making many fine pieces of stained glass lamps and windows, building cabinets and furniture, and published author of three novels and wrote his autobiography, “My First Sixty Years.” He hand-bound and sewed each book, which took many precious hours. There wasn’t an instrument he couldn’t learn to play. Most importantly, an excellent husband, father, and grandfather, leaving wonderful memories.
