Biography--

Marian “Jeanette” Hoffman, 86, of Evansdale died at UnityPoint Health–Allen Hospital on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

She was born on September 24, 1928 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Marion and Mamie Burrell Alderson. She married Jay F. Hoffman on November 4, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2014.

Jeanette earned a Certified Public Secretary Certification in 1967 at Mt. Mercy College, Cedar Rapids. She was employed by The Rath Packing Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1985 as manager of office services. Later, she worked for her husband at Public Employees Credit Union. Jeanette was a member of Hammond Ave. Brethren Church

She is survived by granddaughters: Jennifer (David) Siebold of Houston, Texas, Amy (Chris) Wenham of Houston, Texas, Alexis (Travis) John of Commerce City, Colorado; by a Grandson, Jay Charles Hoffman of Denver; eight great-grandchildren; a daughter in law Deb Hoffman of Waterloo, Iowa; brothers Francis Alderson of Knob Noster, Missouri, and George (Betty) Alderson of Albertville, Alabama; many special nieces and nephews; and very special friends Roger and Dorothy Goldsberry of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: her parents, husband Jay, son Jay F. Hoffman II, two infant brothers and an infant sister, brother in law Charles R. Hoffman, sister in law Kay Hoffman, and sister in law Eleanor Alderson.
