CEDAR FALLS - Scottie Hubert White Sr., 91, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Hale, son of James William and Emma Mae Staley White. He married Charlotte Farris and they later divorced. In 1973 he married Jeanine Gushard; she died in 2003.

Scottie served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at age 12, and entered the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17, serving in World War II and later the Korean War as a staff sergeant. For many years he owned and operated Scottie’s Mower Service.

Survived by two sons, Scott (Donna) of Mount Pleasant and James (Kristy) of San Diego; five daughters, Robyn Zieske of Minnesota, Jacquelyn/Kim (Jay) Thoren, Deb Bocook (Barry Thoren) and Juanita (Lonnie) Youngblood, all of Waterloo, and Kandee (Ray) Nielson of Cedar Falls; a stepson, Steven Sampica of Texas; a stepdaughter, Becky (Paul) Wright of Evansdale; 22 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Kathy Jo White; five brothers, Ray, Fred, Dale, Richard and Harold; and five sisters, Carrie, Amanda, Mae, Fae and Fran.

Services: 11:30 a.m. Friday at Salvation Army Activity Center, 89 Franklin St., Waterloo, where visitation begins at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Mausoleum, with graveside military rites by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and U.S. Marine Corps Funeral Honors Detail. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.
