CEDAR FALLS - Barclay “BB” Bartz, 61, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Dec. 17, 1952, in New Hampton, son of Harold and Susann McNeese Bartz. He married Stacey Layne in October 1998 in Hudson.

A U.S. Army veteran, BB worked at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of UAW Veteran’s Committee and Black Hawk County Street Rods

Survived by his wife; three sons, Curtis (Sara) Bartz, Kevan Bartz and Ben (Ruth) Layne; three grandchildren, Reese, Jackson and Finn; two sisters, Loretta (Darrell) Rankin and Brenda (Tom) Miller; and three brothers, Vincent, Brian (Michelle) and Brent (Mary Kay).

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Stephen

Services: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS and Iowa National Guard Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, a toy for Toys for Tots or an item for Cedar Valley Food Bank in his memory. Items can be brought to his service or taken directly to Toys for Tots or Cedar Valley Food Bank.

Barclay and Stacey were married Oct. 24 (or 23, we could never remember which). He also leaves behind is faithful companion, Corkey, and his beloved red Corvette.

Barclay “BB” Bartz, 61, of Cedar Falls, died at Covenant Medical Center, Thursday, November 20, 2014.

Barclay was born December 17, 1952, in New Hampton, Iowa, son of Harold and Susann McNeese Bartz. He grew up near Cedar Loo, Orange Township, and La Porte City. He was raised on the farm with his brothers and sisters, hung out with them, picked on each other, battled at cards, and “they were a horrible influence on each other.”

Barclay joined the U.S. Army out of high school and served from 1971-1974. He was proud of his service to his country and his military family.

Barclay married Stacey Layne October 24, (or 23rd – we can never remember which) 1998, in Hudson. He loved his family and was proud of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He worked for John Deere for 30 years retiring in 2002. Barclay was a member of the UAW Veteran’s Committee and Black Hawk County Street Machines.

He is survived by his wife Stacey; three sons: Curtis (Sara) Bartz, Kevan Bartz, and Ben (Ruth) Layne; three grandchildren: Reese, Jackson, and Finn; two sisters: Loretta (Darrell) Rankin and Brenda (Tom) Miller; three brothers: Vincent Bartz, Brian (Michelle) Bartz, and Brent (Mary Kay) Bartz; faithful companion Corky; and his beloved red Corvette. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Stephen.
