CEDAR FALLS - Jean Rose Seacat Kimball, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Independence, Kan., daughter of Lester and May Mortimer Seacat. On April 21, 1942, she married Jack Kimball in Kansas City, Mo.; he died in 2002.

Jean received a bachelor's degree from Harpur College SUNY (Binghamton) in 1953 and earned her master's degree in 1973 from the University of Northern Iowa. She taught in the English department at UNI from 1975-1992. She was a member of the James Joyce Foundation and First Congregational United Church of Christ, Waterloo.

Survived by four nieces, Janice (Frank) Racioppo of Moraga, Calif., Julie (Tom) Baswell of Kansas City, Kan., Jennifer (Bruce) Hagedorn of Crestview, Fla., and Janet Coen of Dallas; and three nephews, Tom (Ace) Allan of West Melbourne, Fla., Lynn (Candace) Allan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Rick (Debby) Kimball of Dallas.

Preceded in death by a son, William; and two sisters, Dorothy Allan and Ellen Ruth Seacat.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls.

Memorials may be directed to the church or UNI Foundation.
