WASHBURN - Eunice Carol Roberts, 89, of La Porte City, formerly of Washburn, died at La Porte City Nursing & Rehab Center on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014 of natural causes.

She was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Greene, daughter of Luther and Lillian Hardy Barnhart. She married William D. "Bill" Roberts on June 12, 1948, in Nashua. He died May 13, 2011.

She graduated from Fredericka High School in 1942. Eunice, a homemaker most of her life, had worked part-time in the credit department of both JC Penney and Sears in the Crossroads Mall. She was a charter member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Washburn, served as an elder and deaconess at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, was a member of United Presbyterian Women and was active in choir.

Survived by three daughters, Sue Roberts of Washburn, Cheryl (Don Schmidt) Baldwin of Eudora, Kan., and Marijo (Steve) Raecker of Waterloo; a son, Doug of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Diane Roberts of Hudson; three grandchildren, Dana (Sharon) Roberts and Jake Raecker, both of Waterloo, and Dixie Roberts of New York City; a great-grandson, Jack Roberts; four brothers, Glen (Helen) Barnhart of Camp Hill, Pa., Paul (Martha) Barnhart of Joplin, Mo., Blayne Barnhart of Walla Walla, Wash., and Earl (Donna Myers) Barnhart of La Porte City; and a sister-in-law, Janet Barnhart of Greene.

Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis B.; and a brother, Dwight Barnhart.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, or the Alzheimer's Association.
