WATERLOO - Robert L. Johnson, 73, of Waterloo, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 23, 1932, in Jesup, son of Lewis P. and Della Patton Johnson. He married Lois J. Peshel May 23, 1969, in Nashua.

Mr. Johnson worked at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 28 years in the maintenance department before retiring in June 1994.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Alan (Shelly) and Rick (Leslie), both of Independence, and Todd (Luis Real) of Long Beach, Calif.; three daughters, Janice (Chris) Kafer of St. Charles, Minn., and Kathy (Cliff) Leyen and Teresa (Greg) Anderson, both of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Janet) of Eagle Grove; and two sisters, Barb (Hap) Whalen of Florida and Betty (Larry) Zanatta of Tucson, Ariz.

Preceded in death by an infant son, Michael; and a grandson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
