Roger L. Courts, 86, former resident of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Zephyrhills Health Rehab Center, Zephyrhills, Fla.

He was born July 17, 1928, to the late Ray and Christine Bay Courts. Roger graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1952 and retired from John Deere Tractor Works Service Department in 1982. He was a member of the Blackhawk Masonic Lodge #65, Cedar Falls; Grande Commander of Knights of Templar of Iowa; El Kahir Shrine Temple of Iowa - El Kahir Shrine Temple, Cedar Rapids; and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Zephyrhills.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alberta Grigson Courts; two children, Anita Marlene O’Connor (Doug) Wilson of Louisville, Ky., and Michael (Sue) Courts of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Chris (Jodi) Courts of Atlanta, Ga., Jena (Danial) Burch of Cedar Falls and Joseph Wilson of Ankeny; five great-grandchildren, Ema and Isabela Burch, and Luke, Isaac and Levi Courts; two brothers, Baxter (Marie) Courts of Foster, Ky., and Douglas (Becky) Courts of Lady Lake, Fla.; and one sister, Jennie Lou McGee of Germantown, Ky.

He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Wayne McGee.

Services and burial were held Oct. 2 at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville, Ky., with burial at Neave Cemetery
