WATERLOO - Clyde O. Knight, 96, of Waterloo, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Friendship Village Pavilion.

He was born June 7, 1918, in Butler County, son of John LeRoy and Echo B. Jordan Knight. He married Dorothy M. Bailey on June 29, 1940, at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren, Waterloo. She died March 16, 2001.

He graduated from Janesville High School in 1935, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippine Liberation. Clyde worked for 38 years at John Deere, retiring in 1978.

Clyde was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church where he was past chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America and 4-H, and he volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

Survived by his daughter, Linda Lindaman of Cedar Falls; a son, James (Linda) of Evansdale; three grandchildren, Mark (Keri) Lindaman, Steve (Jane) Lindaman and Tom (Shanda) Knight; five great-grandchildren, Grant and Callie Lindaman, Ryan and Luke Lindaman and Lydia Knight; a brother, Forest of Paynes Creek, Calif.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Clyde enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
