HUDSON - David A. Roth, 51, of Hudson, formerly of Mason City and Des Moines, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born on May 10, 1963, in Mason City, son of Carl and Marlyce Wallace Roth. He married Sue Ellen Klahsen on Aug. 20, 1994, at Community Church of Hudson.

David attended Mason City schools and graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines. He attended University of Iowa and received his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in 1988 in communications, history and geography. He received his juris doctorate from Drake University in 1991. He was attorney in practice with Gallagher, Langlas & Gallagher in Waterloo since 1992.

David was a member of Community Church of Hudson. Professional associations include the American, Iowa State and Black Hawk County Bar Associations. He was formerly the president and had served as secretary, treasurer and vice president for Black Hawk County Bar Association; member of the Defense Research Institute and a member of the Board of Governors for the First Judicial District on the Iowa State Bar Association. He was past president of Main Street Waterloo and active in the Waterloo Jaycees.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Amanda (Chris) Kehe of Atlanta and Alisa (Brent) Heemskerk of Des Moines; two sons, John and Austin, both of Hudson; and two brothers, Scott (Linda) of Des Moines and Mike (Cathy Luck) of Bella Vista, Ark.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Community Church of Hudson, with burial in Hudson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Memorials: An educational scholarship will be established through the Hudson Educational Fund (HEF).
