Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Garland, 74, 736 Boston Ave., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Burton Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Garland died at 8:24 a.m. Thursday at Allen Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 23, 1899, in Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Smith. She married Arnold Garland on Oct. 15, 1920, in Waterloo.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Earl Hansen, 419 Midlothian Blvd., Mrs. Robert Sternat, San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Charles Granger, 3531 Rosehill Terrace; three sons, Emery, Gainesville, Fla., Lawrence, 2828 Crestline St., and the Rev. Harold Garland, Lincoln, Neb.; two brothers, Leonard Smith of California, and Paul Smith, Decatur, Ga.; and three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Ede, Waterloo, Mrs. Viola Barron, Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Ruby Seery of California.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Memorials may be sent to the Burton Avenue Baptist Church.
