WATERLOO - John George Kramer, 83, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Country View Care Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born July 22, 1922, near Egan, Moody County, S.D., son of George and Anna Hemmer Kramer. He married Mary Rozella Harrington on Aug. 28, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waterloo.

In early years Mr. Kramer farmed with his family on their home farm. He moved to Waterloo from South Dakota in the early 1940s and was employed for a short time with Rath Packing Co. He then began a long career with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, working in the sheet metal maintenance department for 37 years, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Timothy (Diane) of Waterloo, Michael (Becky) of Waukon, Paul (Robyn Grund) of Savage, Minn., and Mark of Farmington, Minn.; a daughter, Mary Ann (Bill) Judd of Decorah; six grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret (Harold) Weins of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mary (Virgil) Myers of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and five brothers, Edward (Evelyn) and Louis (Violet), both of Flandreau, S.D., George of Oronoco, Minn., Norbert (Marge) of Sioux Falls, S.D., and James of Chamberlain, S.D.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Francis "Sam;" and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kramer and Phyllis Kramer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Mulberry Street, Waterloo, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hazleton. Public visitation 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. parish vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Fjelstul Funeral Home, Decorah, is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial fund has been established.
