WATERLOO - LaVonne Cora Walters, 84, of ManorCare Health Services, died there Sunday, April 30, 2006.

She was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Waterloo, daughter of Arthur and Cora Anderson Olson. She married Henry M. Walters on April 25, 1941, in Waterloo. He died Sept. 26, 2004, in Horseshoe Bend, Ark.

Mrs. Walters graduated from Waterloo East High School. She worked as a secretary for her husband's construction company and later as a beautician for a nursing home. She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi and was also active in the Methodist Church in Horseshoe Bend.

Survivors include two sons, Larry D. (Jane) Walters of Waterloo and Jerry (Chris) Ackerman of Logansport, Ind.; a sister, Virginia (Frank) Eastman of Maquoketa; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with inurnment in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
