Pioneer of County Dies At Age 97

Charles W. Hutton Long a Contractor

Charles W. Hutton, 97. of 1033 Dawson St. died at Woodlawn Convalescent home Monday afternoon of complications of age.

He was born in Black Hawk County on Nov. 26, 1866, the son of William and Margaret Hutton. He married Nellie Garion on Marcy 19, 1891, at Janesville. He came to Waterloo in 1893 and was a building contractor here for 50 years, retiring in 1944.

Mr. Hutton was a member of Grace Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Odd Fellows and a member of the Good Samaritan Club.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Clifford W. Hutton, 1033 Dawson St., with whom he made his home; a grandson, Maj. Robert W. Hutton of Madison, Wis., and a granddaughter, Mrs. Clarence R. Thompson of Waverly; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son; four brothers and three sisters.

Services are pending at the Locke Funeral Home.
