Edwin E. Shank, 85, of 917 Home Park Blvd. Died Monday December 22, 2003 at Covenant Medical Center.

Ed was born August 23, 1918 in Hubbard, Iowa the son of the Rev. M.E. and Anna (Eller) Shank. He graduated from Afton High School and Iowa State Teacher’s College. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.

He married Melba Granneman April 26, 1941 at Sumner Evangelical Church in a ceremony performed by his father. He coached and taught at Shipley and Maynard before settling in Waterloo where he was the Athletic Director and Principal in Dunkerton before retiring in 1979. In his spare time Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and bowling. He is a member of the Waterloo Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife Melba, a daughter Paula Tann and her husband Stanley of Indianola, Iowa. Two Granddaughters: Teri Kobussen her husband Jos of Indianola and their children Piet, Erik, and Cade Edwin; and Traci Scheumann her husband Todd of Olathe, KS and their children Trevor and Allayna. There are also two nephews and one niece, children of his late brother.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Paul Shank, and a sister in infancy.
