WATERLOO - Arthur Ray Graham Jr., 88, of Waterloo, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.

He was born May 31, 1926, in Chelsea, son of Arthur Ray and Anna Mae Hagge Graham. He married Dorothy Anderson on Feb. 17, 1944, in Tama; she died Sept. 17, 1992. He married Marie Hubert on June 29, 1996, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Arthur graduated from high school in Chelsea in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He farmed and worked at Chicago Northwestern Railroad roundhouse. While at the railroad he worked for Tama Electric. He then worked at Waterloo Home Appliance Center, where he was part owner until it closed in 1964. He then worked as a merchandiser for Montgomery Ward, retiring in 1984. After retirement, Art was a job trainer for Goodwill Industries. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, American Legion Post 138 and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Waterloo

Survived by his wife; three daughters, Barbara Detweiler of Freeport, Ill., Rebecca (Steven) Dotzler of Cedar Falls and Cindy (David) Stentiford of Waterloo; a son, Robert of Perkiomanville, Pa.; three stepsons, Larry (Kellie), Steven (Kelli) and Dan (Mary) Hubert, all of Waterloo; four stepdaughters, Cheryl (Greg) Lown of Farmington, Minn., Teresa (David) Holmes of Macungie, Pa., Diane (Tim) Lyons of Federal Way, Wash., and Lori (Marty) Van Horn of Waterloo; 26 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Anthony Herd of Paw Paw, Mich.; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Graham of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Herd; a son, Steven Graham Sr.; a stepdaughter, Kathy Aswegan; a son-in-law, Del Detweiler; a grandson, Scott E. Detweiler; a great-grandson, Gabe Graham; a sister, Mildred Dvorak; and three brothers, Lowell, Merlyn and Laurel.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with inurnment in Rector Cemetery, Chelsea, with military honors. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to American Legion Post 138 or the church.
