WATERLOO - Mildred L. Hilton, 86, of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007.

She was born Dec. 16, 1920, in rural Fayette, daughter of Charles and Jennie Welsh Baker. She married Harold J. Hilton on Sept. 21, 1941, in Kirksville, Mo.

Mrs. Hilton taught in rural schools around Fayette, before being employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works. She then went to work at Rath Packing Co., retiring in 1977.

Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Grieger of Waterloo; a grandson, Michael (Kelly) Grieger of Cedar Falls; a granddaughter, Lisa (Matt) Asmus of Dubuque; a great-grandson, Ryan Dvorak of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son, Lance Cpl. Daniel J. Hilton, who was killed in the Vietnam War in 1968; a brother, Myron Baker; and a sister, Thelma Stearns.

Private graveside services: were held today at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Richardson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
