RAYMOND - Martin John Winter, 80, of Raymond, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born July 28, 1934, in Waucoma, son of Phil and Cecilia Bruess Winter. He married Mary Kay Rader in 1954 and they later divorced.

Martin graduated from Fredericksburg High School and farmed most of his life near Sumner. After retiring in 1985, he lived in Denver and most recently lived in Raymond where he served eight years on the city council from 2005-2013.

Survived by his companion, Evonita "Evy" Schultz Dahl; three daughters, Patty (Daryl) Wenthe and Debra (Dan) Callahan, both of Marion, and Linda Winter of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, Dennis (Loredana) of Des Moines and Larry of Urbana; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a stepson, Randall (Amy) Schultz of North Liberty; a stepdaughter, Karrie Schultz of Waterloo; and two stepgrandsons.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Irvin; a sister-in-law, Evelyn; a niece, Sharon; a nephew, Gordy; and a stepgrandson, Andrew.

Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. His body was cremated at his request, and there will be no visitation or funeral service.

Memorials may be left to the families’ discretion.
