EARL J. BRONSON KILLED OVERSEAS

Waterloo Seabee Dies on Duty May 23.

Earl J. Bronson, 34, machinist's mate first class in the navy, was killed May 23, in the service of his country overseas, his wife, Mrs. Irene Bronson, 827 Randolph Street, was informed late Friday in a telegram from Vice Admiral, Randall Jacobs, chief of naval personnel in Washington D. C. Bronson who enlisted as a member of the Seabees Apr. 1942, and called to active duty Sept. 5 1942, was killed on the day he concluded 18 months of service overseas.

He was stationed somewhere in England when relatives last heard from him. Jacobs' telegram mentions no details, but says the body is "interred in Allied territory outside the continental limits of the United States."

Earl Joseph Bronson was born Sept. 22, 1909, in Waterloo, and on Dec. 2, 1934, was married to Miss Irene Tisdale, in Cedar Rapids, Ia.

Besides his wife, survivors include an eight-year-old daughter, Gery Ann; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde M. Bronson, 505 West Eighth Street; three brothers, Clayton, 400 West Sixth Street, Loren, 505 West Eighth Street, and Glen, La Porte Road, and one sister, Mrs. Edna Walters, Orange Township.

He was a member of the Waterloo Church of the Brethren, where memorial services will be conducted Sunday, June 4, at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Charles Dumond, pastor.

Public Memorial Service Planned for Earl Bronson

A memorial service, open to the public, for Earl J. Bronson, machinist's mate first class in the navy, who was killed May 23 in the service of his country overseas, will be conducted at the Church of the Brethren at 2:30 p. m, Sunday. Rev. Charles Dumond, pastor, will have as his theme, "Succor in Time of Storm."

Bronson, who was inducted in the Seabees Sept. 5, 1942, was killed on the day that concluded 18 months of service overseas. He was stationed somewhere in England when family last heard from him.
