WATERLOO - Dean E. Speicher, 82, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1931, in Fairmont, Minn., son of William and Fanny Lorene Jennings Speicher. He married Beverly Holland on Aug. 7, 1954, in Nashua, and they later divorced. He then married Margery Ferguson on June 2, 1962, in Evansdale, and they later divorced.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, Dean graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1949 and Iowa State University in 1958 with a bachelor's degree in animal science. He worked for Job Service of Iowa for 17 years, and also farmed in east Waterloo Township. He later owned and operated Dean’s Parkade Lounge, Cedar Falls.

Survived by two daughters, Karen Speicher of Cedar Falls and Mary Christen of Hayden, Idaho; a son, Philip of Colfax; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Naomi “Toots” (Rudy) Engstrum of Lake City; and a brother, Robert (Joanne) of Denver, Colo.

Preceded in death by a son, Jeff; three brothers, Wallace, Gerald and Daryl; and two sisters, Gladys and Wilma.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, preceded by an hour of visitation. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 Honor Guard.
