William Frederick Mether, 78 retired Evangelical minister, 853 West Fourth Street, died at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday in Allen Memorial Hospital where he had been confined for several weeks with carcinoma. He had been ill the past nine years.

Born Dec. 20, 1866, in Waverly, Ia., son of Carl and Molly Mether he graduated from the theological seminary at Naperville, Ill., in 1893.

He married Anna C. Linde man May 23, 1895, in Dysart, Ia. The couple lived in various towns in Iowa during his 28 years as a minister, before his retirement in 1921.

They moved to Waterloo from Hardin County, Iowa, 14 years ago.

Although he is a member of First Evangelical Church here, he attended in recent years First Methodist Church, because of its proximity to his home.

Surviving are his wife, one son, Lloyd, machinist's mate second class in the navy, who flew home from Saipan because of his father's illness; two daughters, Mrs. Faith Simpkins, Yakima, Wash., and R. T. Jensen, Richland, Wash.; two brothers, Charles, Cedar Falls, and Ben, Fairbault, Minn., a sister, Mrs. Marie Ryder, Seattle, Wash., five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The body was taken to Kearns Garden Chapel.

Funeral services for William F. Mether, 78, of 853 West Fourth Street, retired Evangelical minister, who died Tuesday at Allen Memorial Hospital, will be at 1:30
p m. Friday in First Methodist Church with Rev. J. S. Deedrick, pastor of First Evangelical church, in charge. Burial will be in Dysart, Ia. The body is at Kearns.
