Daniel R. Huting, 39, of Iowa City, passed away on Friday, January 01, 2010 at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City following a courageous battle with colon cancer. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Very Reverend Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, January 4 from 4-8 p.m. where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or the Knights of Columbus. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.
Dan was born on September, 26, 1970 in Waterloo, IA. He graduated in 1989 from West High School in Waterloo and later went on to graduate from Ellsworth Community College. Dan was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a longtime member of Bassmasters. He was an avid fisherman, a skilled woodworker and a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan. He also enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Most of all, Dan loved spending time with his family. He always put his family first and truly cherished the time he spent with them.
Dan is survived by his wife Jennifer and their two children Steven and Maggie, all of Iowa City, his mother Barb Shroyer (Don) of North Liberty, his grandparents Lois Rooff, and Fred and June Huting, all of Waterloo, Roger and Jan Corbin of Traer, his mother and father-in-law Steve and Rose Vonnahme of Altoona, IA, his sisters-in-law Laura (Brenton) Rothchild of Altoona, IA and Kim (Matt) Brix of Ankeny, IA, and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his step-father James Shroyer and his grandfather Leo Rooff.
