James T. Tanner, 55, of 2809 Lafayette Street, resident of Waterloo since 1914, died in St. Francis Hospital at 9:20 a.m. of an acute heart attack. Mr. Tanner had been employed as a janitor at Rath Packing Co.

Born Nov. 18, 1889, at New Liberty, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. James Othello Tanner, he married Adelaide L. Lovicks at Waterloo Nov. 25, 1915. He was a member of Payne African Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, James E. and Othello W.. just honorably discharged from the army after overseas duty, now at home; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Scott, 220 Sumner Street, and Madeleen, Chicago. One daughter, Clara, preceded him in death. He is also survived by two brothers, Wilson D., Paducah. Ky. Elmer S., Brookport, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Morris, Brookport, Ill., Mrs. Delia Tanner Hicks, Los Angeles, Cal.

The body was taken to Kistner Funeral Home.
