[Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Thursday, June 19, 2008]

Lila Delores Braton, 82, of Cedar Falls, and formerly of Moorhead, Minn., entered into the presence of her Lord on Friday morning, June 13, 2008, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, surrounded by her children and their spouses.

Lila was born on Dec. 5, 1925, in Portland, N.D., daughter of William and Anna Rindy. She completed her schooling in Portland and attended business school in Fargo, N.D. On Aug. 24, 1946, she married Delos A. Braton of Barnesville, Minn. They made their home in Moorhead. He died on Feb. 1, 1984. She was a homemaker and held part-time positions in bookkeeping with First Federal Savings and Loan, American Crystal Sugar Co., Wylie Trucking Co. and Stop-N-Go Convenience Stores. She was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead, where she was active in several areas, including the Altar Guild. Along with church, she volunteered for Eventide Lutheran Home, Camp Fire and Cub Scouts. Family and friends could always count on the coffee being on at Lila's since she spent many appreciated hours in the kitchen baking delicious cookies, bars and Norwegian lefse.

She will be greatly missed by her family members: daughter, Deanna (Lon) Larson of Omaha, Neb.; son, David (Cheryl) Braton of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Matthew (Shelley) Braton of Eden Prairie, Minn., Brent (Jennifer) Larson of Omaha, Neb., Michael (Torsten) Braton-Kampus of Pulheim, Germany, Briehan (Travis) Grant of Jefferson City, Mo., Sarah Braton of Richfield, Minn., and Janelle (Jonathan) Jaworski of Elkhorn, Neb.; great-grandchildren, Amelia and Isaiah Larson, Hannah and Noah Braton, and Emmett Jaworski; brothers, Walter (Violet) Rindy and Howard (Mabel) Rindy, both of Mayville, N.D.; sister-in-law, Marie Rindy of Portland, N.D.; brother-in-law, Loren (Mabel) Braton; sister-in-law, Inez Braton of Barnesville, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Bennett Rindy.

Friends and family observed Lila's memory loss over time and in November of 2001 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She moved from her house in Moorhead to Eventide's Assisted Living that fall and later to the Fairmont Alzheimer's unit in Moorhead in 2004. In 2005 she relocated to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home to be closer to her children.

The family is grateful for support, care and assistance provided by family, friends, and caregivers. Her smile will be remembered by all who came in contact with her.

Memorials preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead; Alzheimer's Association; Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead; Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, Cedar Falls, or Hospice of the Red River Valley, Fargo.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
