EVANSDALE - Lorna C. O'Day Bean, 91, formerly of Evansdale, died Monday, March 2, 2009. at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home of natural causes.

She was born June 19, 1917, in Warren Township, Bremer County, daughter of Henry A. and Bertha Griese Schroeder. She married Clarence O'Day in August 1939 in Waverly. He died in January 1972. She later married Francis Bean on May 19, 1984, in Waterloo. He died May 31, 1991.

Mrs. Bean graduated from Waverly High School in 1935 and attended Hawkeye Community College. She was a homemaker and for several years had worked in the box office at Cattle Congress and cleaned the Russell Lamson House. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, and also volunteered at Sac's at 7th in the late 1970s.

Survived by a daughter, Janet Wood (Jon Appleby) of Lake Wylie, S.C.; a son, Michael O'Day of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Mrytle Schroeder of Waverly; six grandchildren, Jane (Edmond) Cunningham, Kevin Gibbons, Diane (Duane) Crowe, Steve (Jennifer) Gibbons, Michael Wood and Andrea Wood; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy Jo Frost and Patricia Gibbons Eide; five sisters, Lucinda Buhr, Irene Edgar, Rose Judisch, Florence Dana and Elisa Schroeder; and a brother, Edwin Schroeder.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to Prince of Peace Building Fund.
