WATERLOO - Catherine C. “Kate” Casbon, 93, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at ManorCare Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Tama County, daughter of George and Maude Carpenter Casbon.

Kate was employed by Rath Packing Co. and then was a nanny for several prominent families in Waterloo, until retiring. She also was the caretaker for her mother for many years.

Survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert, Sylvester, Ira and Vilah Casbon; and three sisters, Emma Eldrige, Genieve Burman and Josephine “Jo” Gray.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, Waterloo, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in West View Cemetery, La Porte City.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Kate enjoyed singing, listening to, and playing music.
