WATERLOO - Marie G. Flood, 89, of Waterloo, formerly of New York City, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Veteran's Memorial Hospital, Waukon, of cancer.

She was born Nov. 28, 1917, in New York City, daughter of Charles and May Fletcher Start. She was a secretary for Peerless Steel Co. for 30 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan (Dale) Tracy of Waterville; three grandchildren, Donna, Dorne and Dorrine; three great-grandchildren, Rikki, Damien and Jarrett; and a brother, John Start of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert James; a granddaughter, Danene; a great-granddaughter, Danielle; and several brothers and sisters.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
