DEATH OF J. H. DAHN

Former Resident Here; Died at
Family Home at Waterloo

J.H. Dahn, who, with Mrs. Dahn and their family, was for twelve to fifteen years a resident of Ackley, died at the family home at Waterloo last Saturday, after a comparatively short serious illness although he had not been in good health during the past year. His remains were brought here for burial Monday afternoon, interment being in Oakwood Cemetery.

Born in Prussia, near Berlin, Germany, his boyhood and early young manhood were passed there. On coming to America, he lived at Dysart, Iowa, a number of years, coming to Ackley from that place. Here he engaged in the blacksmith business, in the late 90's, a partner of Wm. Bush, and for a time after quitting here, conducted a shop at Robertson, later the family removed to Waterloo.

He was a hard and willing worker, a man whose honor and integrity were never questioned; good hearted, generous; faring illy at times because of misplaced confidence, but holding no ill will for anyone. He is survived by Mrs. Dahn and two daughters.
