WATERLOO - Geraldine Ann “Gery” Garling, 78, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Waterloo, daughter of Earl and Irene Tisdale Bronson. She married Russell Garling on Oct. 30, 1955, at the Waterloo Church of the Brethren; he died Nov. 17, 1998.

Gery was a graduate of Waterloo West High School and was employed as an office manager at Midwest Utilities Credit Union for 37 years, retiring in 2001.

Survived by a son, Timothy (Kary Bahr) of Clearwater, Fla.; two daughters, Michelle (William) Young of Lawrence, Kan., and Connie (Sol) Garling-Squire of Woodbury, Minn.; and two grandsons, Michael (Laine) Walters Young and Benjamin Young.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Monday at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment in the cemetery. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Gery enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friends, the GalPals.
