Lafayette Shannon, 62, pioneer in the independent telephone Industry In Waterloo 30 years ago, died Saturday at his home in Minneapolis. Mlnn., of pernicious anemia.

He was construction superintendent for the old Cedar Valley Telephone Company. Mr. Shannon was prominent in Helmet lodge. No 89, Knights of Pythias, while in Waterloo, and held a life membership in the lodge. He left Waterloo about 15 years ago.

He was twice married. Two children by the first marriage survive, and his widow and five children by the second marriage.
