WATERLOO - Dewitt "Dewey" Diller Hansen, 65, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, of natural causes.
He was born April 1, 1943, in Charles City, son of Hans and Rosalind Diller Hansen. In 1964 he married Barbara Logan, and they later divorced. In 1969 he married Karen Bowen, and they later divorced. On Nov. 3, 1984, he married Theresa "Terry" Shahan Goecken in Charles City.
He graduated from high school in Nashua in 1961. Mr. Hansen was employed at John Deere and Company until retiring in 1997. He was a member of Local UAW 838, Waterloo.
Survived by his wife; three sons, Robert (Mary) Jones of Wisconsin, James Russell of Iowa City and Scott (Ruth Cose) Hansen of Iowa Falls; three daughters, Lorrie Ann Folken of Waterloo, Lori Lee (Rich Mauckerg) Hansen of Waverly and Tammy (Tom) Bissell of Cedar Falls; three stepsons, Brian Pugh (Kahye) of Tigard, Ore., Bill Goecken of Waterloo and Jason (Patrice) Goecken of Cedar Falls; a stepdaughter, Leslie (Doug) Lensing of Charles City; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandsons; a twin brother, Duane (Linda) of Charles City; two sisters, May Wilkinson and Mary Ann (Eldon) Parker, both of Charles City; his father-in-law, Melvin Shahan of Charles City; and a sister-in-law, Beth Shahan of Charles City.
Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James; a granddaughter, Katherine Hansen; two brothers-in-law, Max Wilkenson and Tom Shahan; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Shahan.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial at a later date. Public visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
