REINBECK - Herman L. Maire, 91, of Reinbeck, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 at home.

He was born Nov. 30, 1917, in Coffins Grove Township Manchester, son of Eugene and Elmay Robinson Maire. On Oct. 6, 1962, he married Ruth Brandt Maxfield. She died in 2007.

Mr. Maire was a retired self-employed general contractor. He was a member of Bethany Bible Chapel.

Survived by a daughter, Linda Kay Homes of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Benny of Waterloo and Gene of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Judy Litchford of Waterloo and Darlene Fender of Santa Nella, Calif.; a brother, Mark of Gustine, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a twin brother, Herbert; two other brothers, Eugene and Burdette; and three sisters, Evelyn Frey, Beulah Graham and Pauline Maire.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
