CEDAR FALLS - Bud Nicol, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Cedar Falls Healthcare Center.

He was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Minneapolis, son of George Augustas and Ellen Lunkley Nicol. He married Katherine Ann Hansen on Jan. 18, 1947, in Waterloo. She died March 20, 2000.

Mr. Nicol served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. He retired in 1990 from the University of Northern Iowa as an electrician in plant services. He also had taught electronics at Hawkeye Community College for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Jim and David (Tammy), both of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Cindy (Gary) Yearling of Washburn, Merri Craig Watson of Shell Rock and Terri (Jason) Batla of Cedar Falls; 13 grandchildren, Shawn Nicol, Troy Nicol, Shad Nicol, Candi Buehner, Brad Yearling, Brian Yearling, Sara Blake, Scott Nicol, Travis Ehnen, Tim Ehnen, Nicholas Watson, Josh Batla and Terra Batla; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Warren; and a sister, Pauline Law.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Richardson Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
