WATERLOO - Jonathan J. "Jon" Lund, 69, of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.

He was born Jan. 16, 1945, in Sioux City, son of Jonathan and Genevieve Blake Lund. He married Sharon Kemmer, and they later divorced. He married Susan Schneiderman on April 1, 2001.

Jon graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1963. He worked as a mechanic at the John Deere foundry, retiring in 1994. He then worked for Hawkeye Valley Agency on Aging, retiring in 2005.

Survived by his wife; a son, Jim (Angie) of Waterloo; a daughter, Jennifer (Jesse) Lund of Estes Park, Colo.; four grandchildren, Brittney, Nickolas, Gage and Sam Lund; a sister, Patrice (Craig) Engstrom of Waterloo; his stepfather, Bob Ruemmele of Waterloo; and a daughter-in-law, Sheri Lund of Urbandale.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Jon.

Graveside services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home. His body has been cremated.

Memorials in lieu of flowers: may be directed to the family for a fund to benefit shelter animals.

Jon enjoyed spending time at Camp Lacupolis on Lake Pepin, fishing, being with family, and his pets.
