WATERLOO - Elsbeth A. "Elsie" Ferson, 89, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 22, 1916, in Tripoli, daughter of Henry and Sophie Droste Spier. She married LaVern Waterman in Missouri, and they were later divorced. She then married Kermit Ferson in Spring Valley, Minn. He preceded her in death July 24, 1972.

She had been a housekeeper for several Motor Lodges throughout her life and was a charter member of Ascension Lutheran Church.

Survived by a son, Rick (Kim) Waterman of Hampton; two daughters, Diana (Jim) Proctor of Evansdale and Virginia (Bob) Owens of Elk Run Heights; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Stanley (Alice) Spier of San Jose, Calif.

Preceded in death by a brother, Emil Spier; and two sisters, Malinda Drewis and Lucinda Ferson.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. AMVETS Auxiliary service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or AMVETS Post No. 19 Auxiliary.
