A PORTE CITY - Ted Edwin Carroll, 80, of Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of the La Porte City area, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Skaggs Hospital, Branson, Mo., following a brief illness.

He was born July 9, 1924, in St. Paul, Minn. He married his wife, Betty Jane Carroll, and she preceded him in death Oct. 17, 2004.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Carroll was a retired American Airlines captain.

Survived by two sons, Curt of Bonita Springs and Jim (Andrea) of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Deborah Jo (Jack) Ericksen of Joliet, Ill.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn Keegan of La Porte City; and a half sister, Audrey Selken of Rose, Okla.

Preceded in death by his wife; and his parents, Ted E. Carroll Sr. and Lydia and Oscar Van Fleet.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Huisman Funeral Home, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
