WATERLOO - Sgt. Gary Lee Lake Jr., 28, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, in San Diego, Calif., after a motorcycle accident.

He was born Aug. 27, 1977, in Tacoma, Wash., son of Gary Sr. and Vicky Lorenz Lake.

He graduated from East High School and served in the U.S. Marines Corps for more than eight years.

Survived by his parents of Waterloo; a sister, Kelly Lake of Waterloo; his fiancee, Bergen Baker of Colorado, currently stationed in Kuwait; two nephews, Corey and Christopher Lake of Waterloo; an uncle, Dan (Kathy) Lake of Las Vegas; an aunt, Jeannie Ketchum of Illinois; and his maternal grandmother, Darlene Lorenz of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Lorenz; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Gert Lake; two uncles, Bob Lorenz and Walt Lake; and an aunt, Sharon Wagner.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Charlie Battery 1st Battalion 14th Marines. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
