WATERLOO - Isaiah Michael Neelans, 4, of Waterloo, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

He was born March 6, 2010, in Waterloo, son of Mary Neelans.

He was attending pre-school at Head Start in Waterloo.

Survived by his mother, of Waterloo; his father, Michael Neelans of Waterloo; three sisters, Christine Neelans at home, Sarah Brown of Halton City, Texas, and Brookelyn Brown of Winthrop; a brother, Jacob Brown of Independence; and his grandmother, Marie Neelans of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his grandfather, James Neelans Sr.

Services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgway, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and also for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home on West Ridgeway.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A 4-year-old boy remains in a hospital after being found unresponsive at a Waterloo business where children can play on inflatable toys.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports Isaiah Neelans was found unresponsive Saturday at Thorpe’s Family Fun Center. A rope used to secure an inflatable structure to the ground was around his neck.

People at the business performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation to revive the boy. Waterloo police Lt. Michael McNamee says he may have been unconscious for up to 10 minutes.

The boy was taken to a Waterloo hospital and then flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Officials declined Monday to release details about his condition.
