WATERLOO - James H. “Jimmy” Hawk, 33, of Waterloo, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his father’s home in Waterloo.

He was born July 20, 1980 in Cedar Falls, son of William C. Hawk and Bridie A. Gilbert.

Jimmy graduated from Independence High School with the class of 1999. He was formerly employed at Hy-Vee and Goodwill Industries.

Survived by his father, William “Bill” of Waterloo; his mother and stepfather, Bridie (Tom) Uhlenhopp of Waterloo; his maternal grandmother, Gaila Gilbert of Sardinia, Ohio; two sisters, Gaila Hawk of Fountain Inn, S.C., and Bobbie (Ray) Zeferino of Shakopee, Minn.; and a brother, Jonathan of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Marjorie Hawk; and his maternal grandfather, Harvey Gilbert.

Family-directed Celebration of Life services: will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. His body has been cremated, and inurnment will be in Waterloo Cemetery. Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Jimmy enjoyed wrestling and spending time with his family, most of all his three nieces, Mauriela, Lucilla and Kathryn and his nephew Felipe.
