ELK RUN HEIGHTS - Irene K. Haas, 76, of Elk Run Heights, died at home Sunday, June 15, 2014.

She was born March 5, 1938, in Litchfield, Minn., daughter of William and Lydia Krakau Rien. She married Anthony M. Haas on June 1, 1960, in Madison, Minn.; he died May 28, 2010.

Irene was employed at St. John’s/St. Nicholas school for 35 years. She also was involved with Community Meals and Circle of Friends.

Survived by a son, Michael (Rebecca K.) of Elk Run Heights; four daughters, Cindy (David) Richardson of Wellsburg, Monica (Steve) Shea of Evansdale, Rebecca J. Haas of Elk Run Heights and Melissa (Chad) Gorby of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Maynard Rien of Bellingham, Minn.; two sisters, Helen Milbrandt of Bellingham, Minn., and Betty Shelstad of Montevideo, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Katie Kemper of Sauk Centre, Minn.

Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Archie Rien; and two sisters, Maxine Schake and Ruth Milbrandt.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, with a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.
