WATERLOO, Iowa - Linus "Bucky" Mensen, 87, of 1026 Bertch Ave., Waterloo, died of an apparent heart attack Monday, May 17, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, Waterloo, where there will be a rosary at 3 p.m., and a vigil at 7 p.m.

Mr. Mensen worked at Deere & Co. in Waterloo for 20 years.

He was born on Oct. 10, 1911, in Adrian, Minn., son of Andrew and Rose (Suedbeck) Mensen. He married Martha Hagemann on Oct. 15, 1940, in Petersburg, Iowa.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Mensen, of Waterloo; three sons, Richard and Ronald Mensen, both of Waterloo, and Loras Mensen, of Winston, Ga.; two daughters, Kathleen Budzynski, of Moundsview, Minn., and Rose Neff, of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; and his sisters, Edna Hagemann, of Clearwater, Fla., Elva Schirmer, of Earlville, Louise Beohm, of Manchester, Leone Steffen, of Winthrop, Ida Griffith, of State Center, Rita Mae Dougherty, of Dubuque, and Alice Westhoff, of Delmar.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Mensen; a brother, Eldon Mensen; and two sisters, Rose O'Conner and Mary Jane Mensen.

A Linus "Bucky" Mensen Memorial Fund has been established.
