WATERLOO - Emerald A. “Merle” Mulligan, 92, of Landmark Commons, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born March 17, 1922, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, daughter of Ernest and May Dugard Howland. She married Donald Lionel Williams on May 2, 1942; he died Dec. 23, 1942. She married Hilliard Wallace "Wally" Mulligan on Nov. 12, 1947, in Winnipeg; he died Nov. 17, 2013.

Merle received her education in Beausejour, Manitoba, and attended Winnipeg Bible College. She had worked at Eaton's Department Store, Winnipeg.

Survived by a son, Bruce (Susan) Mulligan of St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters, Beverley (Clark) Johnson of Waterloo and Ruth (Andrew) Morgan of Kennesaw, Ga.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister, Cora Wilson.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Locke Funeral Home, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery
