WATERLOO - Agnes Anna Youngblut, 89, formerly of La Porte City, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at Rosewood Estates.

She was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Luxemburg, daughter of John H. and Rosalia Brunsman Meier. She married Earl F. Youngblut on May 27, 1947 in Eagle Center. He died Sunday, June 1.

She was a homemaker and member of St. Catherine’s Guild at St. Mary’s of Mount Carmel, Eagle Center.

Survived by two sons, Leonard of Buckingham and Harold (Amy) of Waterloo; seven daughters, Teresa (Jim) Schmitz of Jesup, Rita (Craig) Rogers of Derby; Mary Wilson of Orlando, Fla., Nancy Newton of Winter Park, Fla., Marlys (Ted) Baebenroth of Minneapolis, Minn., Lisa (Mark) Althof of Dysart and Anita (Rick Scholz) Youngblut of Denver, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Donna Youngblut of Buckingham; 38 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Rottinghaus of Waterloo, Clara Guynn of La Porte City and Anna Bussman of Racine, Minn., and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Meier of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Peter and Eric; a daughter, Earlene McKenna; two sons-in-laws, Bill McKenna and Joel Newton; and three brothers, Victor (Pearl), Edward (Marie) and Othmar Meier.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eagle Center. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials or gifts may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice, Bosco System or St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Agnes was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and an avid gardener.
