WATERLOO - Valoise L. “Val” Pieters, 94, of Seymour, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.

She was born April 29, 1920, in Williams, daughter of George Francis and Mary Bessman Plummer. She married Gail Morrill in 1936; they were later divorced. She married Russell L. Pieters on Jan. 19, 1945, in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1982.

She had been a taxi driver during the war in Waterloo, worked at John Deere for many years and was a self-employed cake decorator out of her home.

Survived by a son, Jerry (Bonnie) Morrill of Mystic; two grandsons, Mark Morrill of Minneapolis and Dan Weber of Waterloo; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, June Roby of Mentor, Ohio.

Preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Terri, Lucille, Mary and Ruth; five brothers, Clifford, Gordon, Bob, Charles and Gerald; two half brothers, John and Burt; and a half sister, Flossie.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Continental Care Center at Seymour (400 E. Fourth St. Seymour 42590).

She enjoyed fishing, hunting, making wedding cakes, playing cards and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
