Glenace May Murray Jan. 23, 1927 - May 27, 2014

Glenace May Murray, 87, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away May 27, 2014. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Grace Fellowship Church, 1760 Williston Ave., Waterloo, with burial at Garden of Memories. Visitation one hour prior to service.

Glenace spent most of her working years at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo. She also worked for seven years at Hawkeye Community College. Glenace loved to visit relatives, combining that with trips to the ocean. After retirement, Glenace and Earl moved to Dora, Mo., where they renovated a house and lived there for 11 years. Earlier in their married lives they worked together constructing their homes. During this time, they made trips to the Holy Land as well as Europe and Hawaii. In 1995 they moved to Kansas City, Mo. to be closer to family.

Glenace loved listening to music and enjoyed comedy shows such as in Branson, Mo., and Pigeon Forge, Tenn. She also loved quilting and made quilts for her siblings, children and grandchildren. Throughout her life, Glenace always found ways to share her faith in the Lord and witness to others. She loved to laugh and was a very beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed and was worried about others until the time of her passing. She is resting in Heaven.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elva Sterner, sister Dorla Gielau, and nephew Steven Sterner.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Earl Murray; sisters Norma Ewins of Green Valley, Ariz., and Marie Sterner of Moore Haven, Fla.; brother Jack Sterner of Cumberland, Wis.; daughter Linda Petersen of Phoenix; sons Jim (Pat) Murray of Waterloo and Dan (Sheila) of Gladstone, Mo.; grandchildren Seth (Hillary) Murray, Elizabeth Murray of Kansas City, Abigail (Ben) Crain of Kansas City, Luke (Adrienne) Murray of Waco, Texas, Jared (Courtney) Murray of Springfield, Mo., Kerri Clausman, Austin (Kim) Murray of Waterloo and Jenna Murray of Des Moines; and eight great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
