WATERLOO - Dick E. Cool, 83, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Waterloo, son of Perry and Mae Ferguson Cool. He married Donna Stewart on April 6, 1981, in Las Vegas.

Dick graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1948, and served in the U.S. Army in France during the Korean Conflict. He was business manager for the Western Home for 18 years, retiring in 1993.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Craig (Linda) Cool of Urbandale, Gary (Merry) Cool of Iowa City and Scott Stewart of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Julie (Ricky) Kiefer of Waterloo; and four grandchildren, Stephanie and Benjamin Cool, Amanda Kiefer and Cassandra Stewart.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Strong and Gwendolyn Brooks.

There will be no services or visitation at the request of the deceased. His body has been cremated, with no inurnment planned at this time. Arrangements by Locke Funeral Home Inc.
