WATERLOO - Helen M. Rogers, 93, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Manor Care Health Services.

She was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Waterloo, daughter of James and Nina Jorgenson Murray. She married Paul E. Rogers on Feb. 28, 1959, in Prescott, Minn.; he died June 15, 1989.

Helen served in the U.S. Army WAC during World War II and also served in WAAC (Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps).

Survived by a son, Bruce of Hudson; a daughter, Sally (Mark) Brandhorst of Ankeny; two stepsons, James (Jean) Rogers of Sun City, Ariz., and Gary Rogers of Boulder, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Wilma (Harlan) Kobliska of Waterloo and Paula Rogers of Phoenix; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gordon (Barbara) Murray of Kansas.

Preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gerald Major, James Jr. and Roger Murray; and two sisters, Nina and Margaret Murray.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Garden View Chapel, where visitation begins at noon, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa National Guard Honors Detail.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
