WATERLOO - Charlene F. Hamilton, 91, of 418 Carolina Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 19, at her home of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 13, 1914, in Broadhead, Wis., daughter of Charles and Mayme Cadmen Fuller. She married David A. Hamilton July 8, 1941, in Beloit, Wis. He died Dec. 16, 1992.

She graduated from Calumet High School, Chicago, received her B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1937 and went on to receive her masters in special education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1963.

She worked for Area Education Agency 7 for 21 years in the Waterloo area, retiring as a special education consultant. Prior to that she taught special education classes at McKinstry Elementary.

From 1979 to 1982 she served as president of Conestoga Council of Girl Scouts.

Awards and honors received include past president of PWC and Deacon of First Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She received the Winterstein Award in 1977 by the Iowa Federation Council for Exceptional Children "for outstanding leadership and dedication in the cause for the education of exceptional children." In 1980 she received the Mayor's Volunteer Performance Award for outstanding community service.

Survived by a son, David of Moscow, Idaho; three daughters, Anne (James) Growney of Loudonville, N.Y., Carol (Steven) Brase of West Des Moines and Mary Euritt of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Jenny) Growney, Karen (Scott Moore) Growney, Brian Growney, Andrew Brase, Suzanne Brase, Elizabeth Brase, Alexander Brase and Tristan Euritt; and a great-grandson, Owen Growney.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Louise Hamilton.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Westfield, Wis. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Conestoga Council of Girl Scouts or Waterloo First Presbyterian Church.
